Josh has no business being in a hardcore military simulator but here we are!
In Gray Zone Warfare, realism meets tactics in an open-world MMOFPS where every move matters. Deploy with a Private Military Company, survive intense PvEvP or PvE encounters against players and AI, unravel the secrets of Lamang Island, and thrive through hard-earned progression.

Graphics
The environment is pretty amazing. The game seems so full of life. Graphics are pretty incredible if you have a good enough PC to run some higher end settings. The level of detail in Gray Zone Warfare is impressive.
Controls Learning Curve
Controls in this seem like they could take a bit to get used to. Since this is a hardcore military sim you’ll need to keep an eye on many different aspects of your character. That means applying the right medical device when necessary. Being careful with the amount of ammo you have. Being mindful of the things you carry. So while it might take some time to adapt, once you get the flow of things you can really immerse yourself.
Storyline
There isn’t much of a storyline from what I could tell. However this is still early access. Vendors have different tasks for you to complete but there’s not much of a story.
Gameplay
This is some seriously intense gameplay. Whew. Incredibly realistic. So much so I tripped on stairs and hurt myself falling down a few steps! That’s ok though if you’re looking for that ultra realistic hardcore experience. I do also love there is a PvE only option. Sometimes I want to just play cooperatively with friends or take on a mission without the anxiety of other toxic players ruining the experience. For a first time player PvE only mode is so helpful.
Replayability
This is big on replayability. Even at the start of the game there’s a disclaimer saying “You will die alot.” So this is meant to be replayable. Load into a mission, grab a task from a vendor, and get out on patrol.
Final Thoughts
I know Gray Zone had a bit of a rough launch when the game first launched. But it seems to have gotten most things figured out. I didn’t come across any bugs while playing. As a new player it was intense but not too overwhelming. The game set the expectation right off the bat that this is a hardcore game. I really enjoyed it and I’ll likely be playing more to explore more of the different areas of the game.
