Graphics
Playing on the Xbox Series X these graphics were incredible. The world is full of life (good and evil). There’s wide range of colorful elements. There was time spent on the environment and you could feel that as you further in the game.
Controls Learning Curve
Small learning curve here. Mainly the timing of the parry system. There’s an ability called Sand Skin that you’ll need to time just right to freeze the enemy. Other than that it was relatively easy to pick up and play.
Storyline
The story had my attention. The power of the gauntlet. Where it came from. Who was Nyaal? Just questions kept coming up which were interesting enough to make me want to continue playing the game.
Gameplay
The gameplay is super fun with this one. The sand surfing being my favorite. But the combat feels great. You can wipe out enemies pretty quickly if you time your attacks just right. The game does allow you to buff and upgrade your weapons with elements you can add to them. So there’s alot to shape how you play the game. Defensive or Offensive. It’s always nice to play the way you want.
Replayability
I could see how using different builds could probably give this one extra life. But the tough thing about RPGs is there’s typically not a whole lot of replayability unless you really love the game.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed this one. If you have Xbox Gamepass this is totally worth a play if you’re looking for a solid RPG with a great story. There’s some parts where the combat feels similar to a God of War. Some of the mechanics in the game are pretty satisfying. I really enjoyed the Sand Surfing to get to some places. The game didn’t knock my socks off. It might not win Game of the Year but I had fun with it and it’s worth a try on Gamepass for sure.
