Graphics

Interesting graphics. The neon cyberpunk look is great. The designs of the characters and different corporations seemed really fun. The only thing that was lacking was some of the UI felt a little boring and basic. It was also a bit hard to read the subtitles. But this could be addressed pretty easily in a future patch.

Controls Learning Curve

Very easy and understandable. The game does a great job at walking you through each aspect of the game via the starting tutorial. It also does a great job explaining each of the gameplay mechanics by having you place things and select powers.

Storyline

There is a mission map to follow in the game. With certain objectives and explanations in the descriptions. But it doesn’t seem like much of the focus. You could probably get by with just playing each mission.

Gameplay

With all the different missions, corporations, and character class types. The gameplay is pretty open on how you want to play the game. Addition of the modifiers ands another level to make things easier or harder. If you really enjoy immersive turn based games you’ll enjoy the gameplay here.

Replayability

Plenty of replayability here! Solo or Multiplayer with friends. There’s so many missions to play and the modifiers help to add that extra level of difficulty if things get stale.

Final Thoughts

Seems like there are some things the team can improve on. But for brand new VR game that has similar mechanics to Demeo, I’d say this one has a lot of potential. The gameplay made you think about each move. You can spend time upgrading your units and abilities. Changing loadouts. Neon Squad Tactics has a very good start!
